Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Yun-fei Ji: The Empty City exhibition catalogue 2004
A catalogue for the artist Yun-Fei Ji for his exhibition entitled The Empty City at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. Ji's technique draws from traditional Chinese painting but directly addresses contemporary issues. This series criticizes the controversial Three Gorges Dam and depicts the horrors of effect from flooding the Pearl River Delta region. All of the text in the book is set in dense lines and falls below a mid-page horizon to reinforce a sinking sensation; the only content that creeps above that horizon is Ji's artwork. Special gatefolds are incorporated to accomodate his long scroll paintings.
